Today is the 117th birthday anniversary of Mao Tse Tung. Some see him as a hero. My father in particular, views him as "the greatest political leader who ever lived." Real ironical considering that comment comes from an ex-banker capitalist millionaire with socialist envy (refer to George Soros, except he is a multi-billionaire). Mao was exactly the same way: a hypocritical, paradoxical guy who lived like an emperor under the charade of populist pretensions.
I view him as a whacked out ideologue and hypocrite, and the biggest mass murderer in history. He makes Adolf Hitler look tame. Under Mao's rule, close to 90 million people died, 35 million of whom simply starved to death under his dumb agrarian economic policies. ***Hundreds of millions of people still consider him to be almost god-like*** His photo hangs in front of the Gate of Heavenly Peace, which offends my sensibilities.
Why then am I so engrossed with this guy? I see him as Capricorn: ambition and achievement, and also cold and ruthless, while being charming to the masses. He didn't put in 3 seconds of thought about people dying. Anything to fulfill his colossal ego. I don't like admitting it, but I will. I am rather close to his personality.
He is a Capricorn with a Capricorn Ascendant. I don't seem to fit my Pisces Ascendant, and so I may be an Aries ASC.
Mao and I share a Capricorn Sun and a Venus in Aquarius. He couldn't keep his wee wee zipped up and had four marriages and countless non-marriage relationships. I keep mine zipped up only because I am married, and let my wife do the unzipping.
We both have Sun-Saturn aspects, and Saturn-Pluto aspects, both said to indicate die-hard, ruthless ambition. We both have Neptune to Ascendant aspects, which appears to indicate an ability to feel weakness in enemies and go after their throats. We both have multiple Uranus aspects, showing an appetite for revolutionary change.
The difference, of course, is that I'm a staunch market capitalist who believes in free democracy, open institutions and unhampered trade. And, most of all, I believe in God and he believed that he was god.
